George Evans 1896 - 1917

Not much information on this tragic young man. Born in in 1896 in Mexborough, Yorkshire, joined the 2nd/5th Battalion Kings Own Yorkshire Light Regiment  at the age of 17 and died 3 May 1917 aged 21. His army serial number was 241252. He is buried at Arras Bay 7.  The Arras Memorial is a World War I memorial in France, located in the Faubourg d'Amiens British Cemetery, in the western part of the town of Arras. The memorial commemorates 35,942 soldiers of the forces of the United Kingdom, South Africa and New Zealand, with no known grave, who died in the Arras sector between the spring of 1916 and 7 August 1918.
